This is an interesting piece of research I came across. Its a french short movie from 1976 made by Claude Lelouch and it is very simple in its creation but it has a great effect to it and its original. Its basically a single shot from the bonnet of a car travelling through paris in the early morning and at the makers have used a standard car and have cleverly put in audio from a V12 engine ferarri. Is brilliantly done I could maybe use this idea in my movie to show International Students some sites around the University in the same style this video has been made?

 






Well known Rock Band "Snowpatrol" have also used this film in there hit single "Open your eyes".

Some key questions my project must answer

Is this project for International Students? Does it provide clear information for International Students? Can you use strong visuals? Can you send a secure message in regards to Acommodation? Can you show the life of a student in a creative way?

 Thsese are some questions I have came up with, I feel the main problem im going to face is making this an International Student Video and not a video for UK Students. I want to attract students that cant understand english that well and can really gain alot of understanding of what this Ulster Uni has to offer.

ideas development

Ive came up with some ideas as to what should be included in my video after my presentation feedback. I might want to use some international students who are willing to do a bit of acting for me. If my target audience is for International Students then I should include current Students from other countries and use them for interviews, acting and other various tasks that could help this video.

I want to use the social networks that are currently the big thing at the minute and use them to help me and indeed help the International Students. Facebook, Twitter, Skype and a few others would be good to experiment with.

My presentation ( week 4 )

Okay so I presented my work do date on thursday of week 4. I basically explained what I had been doing so far and what I plan to do. I got some real helpful positive feedback from my classmates and my indeed my lecturers. Justin Magee brought a very important issue to my attention, he said to me that my project is for International Students from other countries and the country with the biggest problem coming here is China. Chinese students coming here struggle with the radical language difference and indeed the majority of the chinese students here stick together and dont interact with the other students on campus. My video might be more benifical for Chinese students as they probably wont understand the dialogue in the video, so maybe clear narrative images can also protray what ulster has to offer them if they decide to come here.

This is an animation I found for the Bill Gates Foundation. Its cool the way the hand is drawing the words being told. I really like this technique I will try something like this for my own work!

Ideas (anination)

I would like my video to have some form of animation included into it. I think this would be great even if was only a couple of short animation that maybe show something to do with University in general or maybe some facts/figures that Ulster University has to offer?

This is an animation I came across about a student whos in his room and makes his books light up to the sounds of some music. Its made by a student at the University of Hertfordshire called Rick tank. Its brilliantly done and shows alot of skill

Another idea I had came up with is people time lapse. I was thinking of maybe adding some clips of time lapses within the university and in some of the student halls. Ive some cool research on what im trying to include. . .

Top secret dvd promo vid (awesome)

This is a promotional Video that I came across while looking up photoshop samples. Its of a DVD that teaches people to use and prefect there photoshop skills and helping them develop as designers. Its a great DVD and as you can see its an awesome video that really makes you want to buy it...which I eventually did!

Stage setup time lapse

I also had an idea to create a stage setup time lapse piece for when I am interviewing a person from the Drama School. I think this would be a great piece to add so that Students can see a stage being set up and then watch a short clip of the play itself. I would place a camera in the stage room and have it programmed to take a picture every 30 seconds and that will generate a time lapse short piece.

I came up with an idea for when im making my film, I had an idea to add a speed painting done on some software whilst I had a specific person talking about the faculty of arts and how they can develop their skills as designers etc in the background whilst this digital painting is being created!

Facebook recruitment inspiration

I really really like this recruitment video by facebook. The facebook site is made in a simplistic way an they have done the same in there recruitment video and I think its fantastic as its sharp with its graphics but none of it is in your face so its easy to watch. Brilliant editing too and I will take inspiration from this piece of work!
