Final Blog Entry!

So thats everything done for my degree. I have really enjoyed this project as it took me to all ends of the country for filming. I got to learn a few things myself about Ulster and captured some great images of the country. I also learnt alot in terms what it takes to create a film that isnt overdone and the message is clear. My mentor lee has guided through the semester and has helped me alot and brought the best out of me. My film has developed over the weeks as I learnt that sometimes less is more. This has been a big learning experience for me as it taught me to deal with a project that involves sending the right message to the viewer. Finally I have enjoyed the course to the full and look forward to the next step :).

Final Piece Film

So this is my Final Piece for the entire project. I have taken the last version and redone the structure on which the film is shown. I added some new shots to the film that were time lapses which really helped the film. I also used royalty free audio that I got from Audio Network. I also took away the tacky building shots and replaces them with more classier shots. I put a really strong ending the film and get my message across to come to University of Ulster. I feel its alot stronger and my mentors comments has really pushed this film to its limits. Im happy with the outcome.

royalty free audio

I used a website called Audio Network for the audio in my Film. I found some great sounds that could work with my film. I was originally going for a irish traditionally sound but I found some music that has made me think again!

Feedback

When I showed my mentor Lee this version I received alot of feedback. The film itself wasnt put together badly, it was just structured wrong. I only included a little bit of the actually Student Life and put it too much other stuff. I also made some scenes a bit tacky by putting type onto buildings. I then used music that I had not got permission to. I took this feedback and went back to the drawing board but this is good development I feel as it points me in the right direction.

My first final version

I put together all my best shots going by my initial storyboard. I wanted to see how my film would look as ive only seen parts from different clips. I used some commercial music from well known bands in ulster...

title for my film (ULSTER UNCOVERED)

I eventually came up with a title for my film. I decided to name the film "Ulster Uncovered". I used to watch all the holidays programs like 'Tenerife Uncovered', 'Ibiza Uncovered' and I thought it would be a good idea to encorporate this to my film as I am attempting to uncover the best parts of University of Ulster.

Rendering Quality

When i came to the point of rendering my work I encountered some problems. Firstly my laptop couldnt render some of my work due to the size of memory it was requiring of my laptop so that was a big problem. I saved my work as a quick time file and I found that to the far better it terms of render time and indeed quality when finished. Also it took under half the time when uploading to YouTube.
